Frog Girl Turns Heads!

Image
Make Heads Turn ft. Frog Girl Week of Oct 4th     This was a fun project! I used one of my older oc's I designed back in high school. She's frog that has a mutation that kept her tadpole tail around even as after growing up.  She's a really cute character so I doodled her a lot in the past.  I figured since I basically know all angles of this oc, I could use her for this assignment since it requires a lot of different perspectives of the head. Frog girl reference sheet, 2019     I tried to keep the animation relatively simple, so her head was the only thing moving in this head turn.  Since I didn't animate the torso moving with the head, I figured I should animate her doing an action that isn't too dramatic and more subtle, so she's tracking a bug and eating a bug in this video!   Bad Bug, 2020 Youtube if Video doesn't load     Since I didn't want to overexaggerate her movements, I made her eyes lead most of the action and ha...

Animating a Flour Sack!

Pantomime: A Drunk Flour Sack!? Week of Sept 13th- Week of Sept 20th     What a classic little lad! An icon!! The floursack figure!!!       I honestly just love flour sack figure projects, so simple yet so useful and very fun! Every time!  I was feeling a lot better and not Emo ™ this week and just happened to have my schedule cleared to focus a lot of time into this project, so I put a lot more effort in this week than the project previous.  We started off with practicing gesture drawings with the Flour sack characters.  I like to keep a seam line in my characters just so its a bit easier to get a sense of the characters mass, so I included this detail in my cleaned up sketches: I like how the flour sack character  is a very malleable figure, especially how squashy and stretchy they are. So when choosing an idea for what I should animate one doing, I figured drunk walking involves a lot of sporadic movements that could i...

Overlapping Action: Animating a Tadpole!

Image
Overlapping Action Week of September 13th 2020     So for this weeks project I had a bit of trouble.  This week was actually one of the worst in all my personal life so OF COURSE that negative energy found its way stubbornly into my schoolwork.  It was the day the project was due, and I was coming back from a visit from my hometown.  I had minimal work done on this animation, was very stressed out/ traumatized from dealing with all the... lovely things that my hometown had to offer and was just praying that I could numb my mind for a bit and animate a little tadpole swimming to forget my issues.  But it always seems that in your lowest times, the universe works against you just to humble yourself and keep you on your toes.  So OF COURSE it would only make sense that Harmony would decide to crash two hours before midnight!!!!!  :) I was at a point in the semester that I still had some dignity to not leave canvas empty handed, so I make did with so...
Computer Animation  Week 1: Ball Bounce  https://youtu.be/dCqnC1BuMUQ (link to vid if ^that isn't working) This is my first assignment for my Computer Animation Class.  A lot of it was relearning/ reapplying my knowledge from the one animation class I had last semester, but that was a 3D class.  We did almost the same project for the first assignment (animate a ball bouncing), but this was a bit more fun because it wasn't in MAYA... ugh.  I feel lke the second ball when it was "tossed in" was a bit slow on the highest point of its arc, but I'm not entirely sure.  time to do the next project, yay :,)

Hey!  I'm Christie and this is my second year at USF.  I'm studying studio art and focusing on (some kind of) digital art.  I plan to graduate either spring or summer 2021, so very soon!  I have very little experience with animation, academically and in my own free practice.  I have taken 3D animation last semester, which was very helpful and informative in teaching me the basics of animation, however, it left me with a burning hatred toward maya >:( I am interested in starting 2D animation and hope to apply all I've learned up until this point into this class and find solace in Harmony, as the layout is not as intimidating as Maya lol. Here's to a good semester! 🍹 (i'm still underage, this is apple juice) Some stuff im proud of down below: Ottiger , charcoal and ink wash, 2020 Final demo reel from 3D animation, 2020
