Frog Girl Turns Heads!
Make Heads Turn ft. Frog Girl
Week of Oct 4th
This was a fun project! I used one of my older oc's I designed back in high school. She's frog that has a mutation that kept her tadpole tail around even as after growing up. She's a really cute character so I doodled her a lot in the past. I figured since I basically know all angles of this oc, I could use her for this assignment since it requires a lot of different perspectives of the head.

I tried to keep the animation relatively simple, so her head was the only thing moving in this head turn. Since I didn't animate the torso moving with the head, I figured I should animate her doing an action that isn't too dramatic and more subtle, so she's tracking a bug and eating a bug in this video!

Since I didn't want to overexaggerate her movements, I made her eyes lead most of the action and have her head follow after them. This way it kind solves the problem of keeping her movements subtle, as a hunting frog's would be, but still keeping the animation somewhat interesting to watch. I wish I animated the hair poof at the end to be a bit faster now that I'm watching it back. What I was trying to replicate at the time was the Ghibli hair poofs Miyazaki does when he animates a character undergo a dramatic emotional expression. But I think for that to work I should have also animated the body to draw back as well to really sell the expression of disgust. However, I am not disgusted by my work here! I love my frog girl OC and wish I could give her a story so I can make a comic or something for her. Maybe one day... *dramatic head turn to face the setting sun*
