A Spooky Stroll oOooOOo
Week of Nov 3rd 2020
This was a fun project! I wish I had been feeling a bit better mentally this week I was while I was working, but I still pushed through everything to get it done the best I could! Since Halloween was the week before, I wanted to fit the spooky mood somehow. I got a bit of practice doing Vee's walk cycle from the last project, so I figured I could try a a different type of walk. Instead of a simple heel to toe walk, I did a creeping toe to heel kinda thing...?
This character does not have any OC background information on him, unfortunately. He is just a boy lost in the woods and creeping around. Is he trying to walk silently to avoid being heard by something... we will never know. No seriously, we'll never know because I didn't get to add those details into the background as I had originally planned due to my low motivation this week; the only thing I could pump out was the actual figure himself :( No matter, we will simply analyze only what we can see. For the process of animating this particular kind of walk, I had to use a bit of reference. I used some of the resources linked in this class's drop box, but ultimately what I found was the best reference was myself. I recorded myself walking around my room, clearly emphasizing the rolling motion of the feet moving from toe-to-heel. I looked a bit strange but it really was the best help to this project! Also I really started to understand the timing of walks from doing this project. I found myself making sure each step was equal to each other, both in the swing of each leg's arcs and also in the amount of frames between each step. It's not perfect but it definitely is a good start!
