All that Talk!

Animating Dialogue! Week of Nov 29th 2020 I was really excited for this week's assingment! I've been meaning to try my hand at animating dialogue because I grew up watching a lot of those "animated storytime" videos or video comics on Youtube, so it made me excited to do what I thought was so cool as a kid.  I loved Domics on Youtube the most, and I even referred back to his videos for some help with this assignment!  I eventually got caught in a clickhole when I was looking back at his  channel and was amazed at the crazy amount of work he put out over all these years! I used to think that he posted videos too slow when I was a impatient, short-attentioned-spanned kid, but it makes so much sense as to why he took so long to post.  DIALOGUE IS HARD.  I never really thought about how much the human mouth moved before this and my mind is blown.  The amount of hours I spent making faces to myself trying to figure out how the letter "h" should be animated shoul...

First Puppet Test!

A Chill ing Performance Week of Nov 13th 2020     It was so funny doing this project because it feels like I see much more puppet animation in media than frame-by-frame animation, yet I had not tried it before this point!  Idk that's a strange thing to be weirded out by but the feeling is still there.  I watched lots of tv shows growing up that were animated using Flash or some other puppeting method. some of my favorites being Time Warp Trio and Kick Buttkowski (please do not judge lol).  Anyway, I actually really enjoyed using this method though, for the most part.  I always found it a bit annoying working in the graph editor though, partially because I never was good at math and loathe the thought of parabolas and making those complicated equations to make these squiggly lines??? What's a cosine??? Tangent?? HELLO????  Back to the point, its a bit tedious working with this method because I always feel like I have to do a lot of trial and ...

I'm Walkin Here!!!

A Spooky Stroll oOooOOo Week of Nov 3rd 2020     This was a fun project! I wish I had been feeling a bit better mentally this week I was while I was working, but I still pushed through everything to get it done the best I could!  Since Halloween was the week before, I wanted to fit the spooky mood somehow. I got a bit of practice doing Vee's walk cycle from the last project, so I figured I could try a a different type of walk.  Instead of a simple heel to toe walk, I did a creeping toe to heel kinda thing...?  Youtube if Video doesn't load     This character does not have any OC background information on him, unfortunately.  He is just a boy lost in the woods and creeping around.  Is he trying to walk silently to avoid being heard by something... we will never know.  No seriously, we'll never know because I didn't get to add those details into the background as I had originally planned due to my low motivation this week; the only ...

Do you even lift, Bro?

Weight and a Tale of Friends! Week of Oct 20th 2020     This project was probably my favorite of the class so far!  I used some old ocs again for this project since I have lots of doodling experience with them. Their names are Vee and Mina, two of a trio of friends that just get up to regular teenage shenanigans.  Not included in this animation is the third of the trio, Donny, who didn't make the cut into the final animation because I was too rushed to put him in.  Sorry Donny :(  I designed these characters after me and my closest friends from high school (yikes self insert) after one of them suggested we make a comic about us since it would be a good creative collaboration between all of us.  However, it never made it past the "pilot" scripting and my character designs because we were all busy getting up to our teenage shenanigans in REAL LIFE.  So now obviously these characters hold a place near and dear to my heart, I had to use the...
